Staircase Renovation in Lincoln – Spindles and Hardwood Handrail

Radial Joinery completed this staircase renovation in Lincoln by removing an old panelled balustrade and fitting new spindles with a hardwood handrail. The aim was to make the staircase look lighter and more modern while keeping a style that suited the house. Removing the Existing Staircase Panels

The original staircase had solid panels which made the stairwell feel closed in. We carefully removed the panelled balustrade before preparing the staircase for the new spindles and handrail.

Staircase joinery is structural, so accuracy is important. Each section must fit correctly and remain secure once installed. All parts were made to suit the existing staircase.

New Square Spindles and Hardwood Handrail

We fitted square spindles finished in white to match the rest of the interior joinery. We then installed a custom sapele hardwood handrail made to follow the line of the stairs.

Hardwood handrails are strong and long lasting. They also give a higher quality finish than standard softwood rails. The painted spindles and natural timber handrail create a clean but traditional look.

Matching Previous Joinery Work

This was a returning client. We had previously fitted shaker style internal doors in the same property. Because of this, we designed the new staircase to match the existing joinery.
