About Radial Joinery

The people behind Radial Joinery are Lincoln homeowners Ian Metheringham and Rachel Morgan. If you work with Radial, you’re supporting a local family business who in turn employ local people. Radial will only send the highest quality carpenters and joiners into your home, who will do an excellent job, keep their workspace tidy and be super polite around your family.

Ian talks about his journey: from Apprentice to Joinery Business Owner

I have always worked with wood and love the material, in fact, the first bespoke carpentry I did was creating Christmas presents for my family as a child!

I took the traditional route of an NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery, serving my apprenticeship and working my way up in a local joinery company from bench joiner/machinist to foreman, eventually running the workshop and producing all the bespoke joinery for the company. I often worked on site to fit windows, doors, stairs, etc and gained a lot of experience working in Grade 1 and Grade 2 listed buildings and with antique furniture, supplying items for furniture restorers. Over the years I’ve clocked-up thousands of hours on first and second fit joinery, fitted countless kitchens and working on many home renovations, taking immense pleasure in watching a building return to its former glory!

Most recently, I’ve worked at Hill Holt Wood, near Lincoln, on several eco-construction projects, including composting toilets and woodland classrooms, because they have lots of school children visit to learn about nature and green lifestyles. I’ve designed and installed decking in the woodlands, with disabled access and high-level planters to help with the educational talks they do.

One of the bespoke pieces I am most proud of, which you may know if you enjoy your woodland walks, is the five-meter-high oak archway that welcomes visitors to the Old Wood at Skellingthorpe.

And I’ve not stopped creating the unique, handcrafted pieces for friends and family too – including bespoke wooden furniture and enough wood turned items to fill a gallery!

My partner Rachel has successfully run her own business since 1999, so she brings to Radial those essential skills of management and customer service. You could also say the building trade is in Rachel’s blood, with her father and grandfather also skilled craftsmen!

How to Contact Radial Joinery

The best way to contact us is by phone on 01522 801760, or through our contact page.

We will happily discuss your thoughts and project ideas with you. We may ask you, if possible, to send us some photos of the space or item you want to transform or replicate. You could also show us images of designs you like from the internet. We would love to hear from you.

What to expect when working with Radial

When we initially talk we will discuss the details of the project you wish to undertake. We will then, if necessary, arrange for a joiner to visit you for a design and measure appointment before we email (post if necessary) your quote or estimate.

Upon acceptance of a quote or estimate we will send a request for a deposit. This will be 25% for standard supply and fitting work and 50% for bespoke manufactured items. We use the lower figure when an estimated price has been given.

After receiving the deposit, drawings will be undertaken and emailed (or posted) to you for your approval and, if necessary, modifications can be made. (If you decide not to go ahead after the drawings have been issued, £150 plus VAT will be withheld from any deposit returned).

The workshop manufacture date will then be booked and a provisional fitting date arranged.

If an estimated price has been supplied, before the manufacture is due to commence a final price will be given and the difference, to make up the 50% deposit will be requested.

Once the manufacture has commenced and a delivery date for any glass required has been given, by our suppliers, the fitting date will be confirmed.

After the work is completed and approved by you the final balance invoice will be sent. Payment will then be due within 14 days of issue.

Woodwork Priming, Painting & Spraying

Radial work in partnership with professional decorators who can prime and paint your new woodwork to match your interior design. This may include work in the spraybooth at Radial’s workshop or spraying the items on site. Avoid the hassle of all that paintwork and get an incredibly professional finish, it makes so much sense!

Courteous, Reliable & Trustworthy

Everyone working at Radial has impeccable manners and will treat your home, family and pets with the utmost respect. We’ll arrive on time, communicate clearly throughout the process, get on with the job and leave the working area tidy and clean.

Licensed Waste Carriers

Radial are fully registered waste carriers (Registration – CBDU292806) so we can safely dispose of the existing items, for a small additional fee. Let us take away the old so you can fully enjoy the new!

FENSA Window & Door Installers

All our windows and doors come with a FENSA Certificate (essential if selling the property), which gives you reassurance that our installations:

  • Comply with Building Regulations
  • Use energy efficient products
  • Are registered with the local council
  • Verify that the warranty is insured
