Oak Joinery in Lincoln – Extractor Hood Surround in Aubourn

Designing the Oak Joinery Feature
The client wanted the extractor housing to look like part of the kitchen instead of a simple boxed unit. We designed a bespoke oak surround that fits naturally within the space.
Solid oak allowed us to create clean lines and strong proportions. As a result, the extractor now works as an architectural feature rather than just a functional item.

Manufacturing the Oak Surround
We made the surround from solid oak and sized it to suit the width of the cooking area and tiled splashback.
We carefully shaped the profile and projection so the finished oak joinery looks balanced from every angle while still feeling light within the room.
Finishing the Oak Joinery
After manufacture, we finished the timber using Osmo Hardwax Oil
(Osmo finish).
This protects the oak and highlights the natural grain.
The final colour works well with the painted cabinets, stone worktops and brass fittings already in the kitchen. Because of this, the surround blends in naturally while still acting as a feature.
