Bespoke External Door in Lincoln – Sapele Door with Glazed Top Light

Radial Joinery designed and manufactured this bespoke external door in Lincoln for a private property. The door was made from solid Sapele hardwood and built to 54mm thickness for strength, durability and improved insulation. Handmade Sapele External Door

We manufactured the door from Sapele hardwood, which is commonly used for high quality exterior joinery. The timber offers excellent stability and has a rich natural grain that finishes well when oiled.

The door features traditional V-grooved boarding on both the inside and outside faces. This gives a timeless appearance while keeping the strength expected from a handmade external door.

All parts were made in our workshop before installation at the property in Lincoln.

Insulated Panels for Better Performance

We built insulated panels into the door to improve thermal performance. Better insulation helps reduce heat loss through the entrance door and makes the house more comfortable.

Glazed Top Light with Double Glazing

The door includes a glazed top light which allows natural light into the hallway while keeping the entrance secure.

We fitted a 24mm sealed double glazed unit filled with argon gas. This improves insulation and reduces heat transfer through the glass. The unit also uses a warm edge spacer bar to reduce condensation around the edges.

Locks and Brass Ironmongery

We fitted a five-lever mortice lock together with an additional Yale lock for extra security. Both locks were finished in polished brass to suit the colour of the Sapele timber.

High quality ironmongery helps the door operate smoothly while keeping the security expected from a solid hardwood entrance door.

Osmo Oil Finish

We finished the door using Osmo UV Protection Oil
(Osmo exterior oil).
This protects the timber from weathering while allowing the natural grain to remain visible.

Oil finishes are often used on bespoke external doors because they provide strong protection and are easy to maintain.
