Bespoke Fitted Wardrobes in Navenby, Lincoln

Radial Joinery designed and installed these bespoke fitted wardrobes in Navenby, Lincoln to create a clean, contemporary storage solution with a strong architectural presence.

The Client Brief

The client wanted a modern wardrobe design with slab style doors and a practical internal layout. We configured the interior with a double hanging section and a separate single section to maximise storage.

The single section includes four soft-close drawers. Above these drawers, we built a custom pull-out accessory tray lined with felt. This tray provides organised storage for watches and smaller personal items. Adjustable shelving sits above, allowing the layout to adapt over time.

Materials & Construction

We manufactured the doors and end panels using Medite premium moisture resistant MDF to ensure durability. In contrast, we used walnut veneered panels for the internals to introduce warmth and depth.

To maintain consistency throughout the space, we replaced the cupboard door above the stairwell with a matching flush ply door. Inside, we installed a twin slot shelving system with walnut shelving and a new base section.

Ironmongery & Detailing

We fitted soft-close hinges and drawer runners throughout the installation to ensure smooth operation. Long knurled ‘T’ bar satin nickel handles add subtle detailing, while a black hanging rail enhances the contrast within the walnut interior.

Integrated LED Lighting

To enhance functionality, we installed vertical LED strips along each upright. Door sensors activate the lighting automatically when the wardrobe doors are opened. As a result, the interior remains well illuminated without visible switches.

Finish

We finished all walnut veneered components in Osmo Hardwax Oil to highlight the natural grain. Meanwhile, we spray finished the doors and frontals in a satin paint, colour matched to Farrow & Ball “Down Pipe No.26”. This deep tone contrasts beautifully with the walnut interior.

The Result

The completed installation delivers a refined fitted wardrobe solution that balances dark contemporary styling with warm internal finishes.

The team at Radial recently completed some skilled remedial work on our conservatory. Many of the window units were rotting around the sills so the frames needed splicing with new timber. The job we needed doing was to replace the rotted ‘decking’ plank tops to the raised beds in our garden. We also needed a ‘railway sleeper’ step replacing alongside. The beds are three to four meters square and there are four so not a small task.

Radial Joinery gave us a competitive quote and got on with the job.

Although the job sounds simple it was actually quite complicated requiring mitre joints at the corners. They also need to be fixed soundly, as the tops of the raised beds are designed to be sat on and, sometimes, stood on.

We also had small additional work for radial to do whilst they we there.

It turned out to be a ‘full on’ days work for Ian and his assistant – the finished job was excellent in all aspects.

The old, rotten decking planks were taken away by Radial and they vacuumed the sawdust away in all areas of their work.

I’ve had Ian from Radial Joinery at my house to do some work several times in the last few years. He’s always been on time, well kitted out for whatever job is needed and very able to turn his hand to anything. Replacing internal doors and skirting boards, built wardrobes, replaced decking, mended kitchen cupboards, put up shelves and also carved an awkward outside towel rack for my hot tub. As long as you provide him with decent coffee, he’s excellent to employ.
