Bespoke Ledged & Braced Cottage Door in Glentworth
Radial Joinery recently supplied and fitted a bespoke ledged and braced door for a cottage property in Glentworth, near Gainsborough.
The new door replaced a worn and weathered external store door and was designed to suit the character of the property.
The Client Brief
The client required a new timber door for the coal shed located to the side of the main house. The existing door had deteriorated and no longer provided adequate protection from the elements.
In addition, we discussed repairs to external door frames and the installation of further new doors elsewhere on the property.
Construction & Materials
We manufactured the new door in softwood using a traditional ledged and braced construction. This method provides strength and stability while maintaining a classic cottage appearance.
We supplied and fitted a new matching timber frame to ensure a clean and secure installation.
Ironmongery
The door was fitted with black ‘T’ hinges and a traditional Suffolk latch. These details complement the cottage style and enhance the overall character of the outbuilding.
Finish
We spray applied a durable paint finish inside and out, colour matched to Little Greene “Vulcan”.
In contrast, we finished the frame in white to create subtle definition around the opening and to complement the surrounding brickwork.
The Result
The completed installation restores the appearance of the outbuilding while improving security and weather protection.
