Overview

Bespoke Timber Windows & Back Door in Stubton near Newark

Radial Joinery supplied and installed bespoke timber windows and a handcrafted back door at this cottage in Stubton near Newark, Lincolnshire. This type of work forms part of our timber windows in Lincoln and our wider bespoke joinery services in Lincoln. We regularly manufacture custom exterior joinery for period and traditional properties.

The client required high quality hardwood joinery that respected the character of the cottage while improving insulation, security and durability.

Client Brief

The project included two new double glazed timber casement windows and a new exterior back door. The aim was to replace the existing units while keeping a traditional appearance.

The new windows and door also needed to provide better thermal performance and modern locking systems. Projects like this often sit alongside our bespoke timber doors in Lincoln, where doors and windows are made to suit the property rather than using standard sizes.

Hardwood Construction for External Joinery

We manufactured the windows and door using Sapele hardwood. This timber offers excellent durability and stability, which makes it ideal for external joinery.

The windows were built as flush fitting casements so the cottage kept its traditional appearance.

We fitted Pilkington clear toughened double glazing units in a 4/16/4 build-up. Each unit was argon filled and used warm edge spacer bars to improve thermal performance.

Ironmongery and Security

The back door was fitted with a multipoint locking system to provide modern security while keeping a traditional look.

We selected black antique style handles and stays to suit the character of the property and match the existing detailing.

Spray Finish for Durability

All joinery received end grain sealer followed by two coats of primer. We then spray applied the final coats to give a smooth and durable finish.

The windows were finished in Natural Calico, while the door was finished grey externally and Natural Calico internally to suit the property.
