Bespoke Timber Windows & Back Door in Stubton, Newark
Radial Joinery recently supplied and installed bespoke timber windows and a handcrafted back door in Stubton, near Newark.
This project required high quality hardwood joinery that respected the character of the cottage while improving performance and security.
The Client Brief
The client required two new wooden double glazed casement windows and a new exterior back door. The aim was to replace the existing units while maintaining a traditional appearance.
In addition, the new installations needed to provide improved thermal performance and secure locking systems.
Materials & Construction
We manufactured the windows and door using Sapele hardwood. This timber offers excellent durability and stability, making it ideal for exterior joinery.
The windows were built as flush fitting casements to retain a traditional cottage aesthetic.
We installed Pilkington clear toughened double glazing units in a 4/16/4 configuration. Each unit was argon filled and fitted with a warm edge spacer bar to improve energy efficiency.
Ironmongery & Security
The back door was fitted with a multipoint locking system for enhanced security.
We selected black antique style handles and stays to complement the property’s character and period detailing.
Finish
All joinery received endgrain sealer, followed by two coats of primer. We then spray applied the top coats for a durable and consistent finish.
The windows were finished in Natural Calico. The door was finished in grey externally and Natural Calico internally to suit the property’s colour scheme.
Please note, the supply of a cat flap was excluded due to the wide range of options available.
The Result
The completed installation enhances both the appearance and performance of this Stubton cottage. The new hardwood windows and door provide improved insulation, security and longevity while maintaining traditional character.
