Bespoke Hardwood Outbuilding Doors in Glentworth, Gainsborough

We manufactured and installed a bespoke pair of hardwood outbuilding doors for a property in Glentworth near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The original doors had deteriorated over time and no longer provided good weather protection or security. The client asked us to design a new pair of timber doors that would improve performance while still matching the character of the brick outbuilding.

Custom Made Hardwood Doors

We manufactured a pair of 2XGG hardwood doors with a matching frame. The overall size is 1345mm by 2255mm. Each door includes two glazed upper panels and two solid lower panels. This layout allows natural light into the building while keeping strength and privacy.

Double Glazing for Better Performance

To improve insulation, we installed Pilkington K Clear toughened double glazed units with a 4/12/4 build-up. The units are argon filled and use warm edge spacer bars with a traditional lead pattern.

This specification gives better thermal performance while keeping a traditional appearance. Using modern glazing in timber joinery allows older buildings to perform better without changing their character.

Traditional Ironmongery and Secure Locking

We fitted black pewter ironmongery to match the style of the outbuilding. A five lever mortice lock provides reliable security while keeping the correct traditional look.

Osmo UV Protection Oil Finish

We finished the doors with two coats of Osmo UV protection oil. This finish highlights the natural grain of the hardwood and protects the timber from weathering.
