Bespoke pair of hardwood 2XGG glazed doors and frame fitted to brick outbuilding with double glazing and Osmo UV finish.

Overview

We recently manufactured and installed a bespoke pair of hardwood outbuilding doors for a property in Glentworth, Gainsborough.

The original doors had deteriorated significantly and no longer provided adequate weather protection or security. Therefore, the client asked us to design and install a new pair of timber doors that would improve performance while maintaining the character of the brick outbuilding.

We manufactured a pair of 2XGG hardwood doors complete with a matching frame, sized at 1345mm x 2255mm. The design includes two glazed upper panels and two lower solid panels, which provide both natural light and privacy.

For improved thermal performance, we installed Pilkington K clear toughened double glazing units (4/12/4), argon filled with warm edge spacer bars and a traditional lead pattern. As a result, the new doors offer significantly better insulation than the originals while preserving a classic appearance.

We fitted black pewter ironmongery, including a 5 lever mortice lock, to provide security and complement the traditional design.

Finally, we applied two coats of Osmo UV protection oil. This finish enhances the natural grain of the hardwood while protecting the timber from weathering.

The finished result transforms the outbuilding. The new hardwood doors sit perfectly within the existing brickwork and provide durability, security and long-term performance.

At Radial Joinery, we design and manufacture bespoke timber doors across Lincolnshire, including glazed hardwood doors for outbuildings, garden rooms and heritage properties.
