Bespoke Ledged and Braced Door in Carlton-le-Moorland, Lincoln
We designed and installed a bespoke ledged and braced internal door for a bathroom cupboard at a property in Carlton-le-Moorland near Lincoln. This type of work forms part of our bespoke timber doors in Lincoln and our wider bespoke joinery services in Lincoln. We regularly manufacture custom internal doors to suit the style of each property.
The client needed a new door to match an existing ledged and braced door in the same room. Because of this, the proportions, detailing and finish had to be accurate so the new door would look original to the house.
Made to Match Existing Joinery
We manufactured the door from tulipwood, which is well suited to painted internal joinery. This timber provides a smooth finish and remains stable after painting.
To match the existing door, we copied the layout of the vertical boards, ledges and diagonal braces. We also fitted handmade ironmongery to suit the traditional style of the property.
Projects like this often sit alongside our heritage and period joinery in Lincoln, where new joinery must match original features.
Accurate Joinery for Smaller Projects
Although this was a small door, it still required careful design and accurate manufacture. Making the door to the exact size allowed it to fit correctly and blend with the existing joinery.
Smaller joinery projects often need the same level of care as larger work, especially when the new joinery must match existing details.
