Oak French Doors in Lincolnshire – Bespoke Doors in Scothern
Radial Joinery designed and installed oak French doors in Lincolnshire for a property in Scothern. We removed the original aluminium sliding patio doors and replaced them with bespoke oak doors and side screens to improve both the appearance and performance of the opening. This type of work forms part of our bespoke timber doors in Lincoln and our wider bespoke joinery services in Lincoln.
Replacing Aluminium Sliding Doors
The original opening contained aluminium sliding patio doors between the living room and conservatory. Although the doors worked, they reduced the character of the room and offered limited insulation.
We designed new oak French doors to suit the existing opening while improving the proportions, insulation and overall finish.
Bespoke Oak French Doors with Side Screens
We manufactured the doors from solid oak and added narrow side screens to increase the glazed area. As a result, more natural light now flows between the living room and conservatory while the strength of solid timber joinery is maintained.
Oak is a popular choice for this type of project because it offers excellent stability, long service life and a natural appearance. Oak French doors also suit both traditional and modern interiors.
Parliament Hinges for a Full Opening
We fitted parliament hinges so the doors can fold fully back against the wall. This allows the full width of the opening to be used and lets more light enter the room when the doors are open.
Parliament hinges work well on bespoke French doors where a wider opening is required.
Multi Point Locking System
We fitted a five-point multipoint locking system to the main door to give secure locking along the full height of the frame. The slave door also includes handle-operated top and bottom bolts so both leaves lock firmly together.
Modern locking systems allow traditional timber doors to meet current security standards while keeping the look of handcrafted joinery.
Osmo UV Protection Oil Finish
We finished the doors with Osmo UV Protection Oil
(Osmo exterior oil).
This finish enhances the natural grain of the oak and protects the timber from sunlight and wear.
Oil finishes are often used on oak French doors because they provide strong protection and remain easy to maintain.
