Timber Windows in Lincoln – Accoya Listed Building Windows & Doors in Martin
This project involved the manufacture and installation of bespoke timber windows in Lincoln for a listed property in Martin near Lincoln. The existing joinery needed replacing, and the client wanted new windows and doors that stayed in keeping with the age and character of the building. This type of work forms part of our timber windows in Lincoln service as well as our heritage and period joinery in Lincoln work.
We also handled the listed building paperwork and building control requirements before manufacture began. That allowed the replacement joinery to move forward with the correct approvals while keeping the final design suitable for the property.
Accoya Timber Windows for a Listed Property
We made the new windows and doors from Accoya timber. Accoya is a strong choice for external joinery because it offers excellent stability, durability and resistance to movement. It is especially well suited to period and listed buildings where long term performance matters just as much as appearance.
The project included four large arched barn windows, one push-out window and one double height standard opening window. Each frame was made to suit the original openings so the finished joinery looked correct within the brickwork and remained in keeping with the building.
Flush Casement Joinery with Workshop Spray Finish
All frames were made in a flush casement style to give a more traditional look. The arched sections were manufactured carefully to follow the shape of the existing openings, which was important for both appearance and approval.
We completed all manufacture in our Lincoln workshop before applying a full spray finish. The joinery received end grain sealer, two coats of primer and undercoat, and a final satin top coat colour matched to Dulux Weathershield Green Glade. This approach gives a smooth, even finish and better protection for external timber windows.
Traditional Appearance with Modern Performance
The glazing used Pilkington double glazed units with argon filled cavities and warm edge spacer bars to improve thermal performance. Where required, we used toughened glass. We also fitted flush mounted trickle vents colour matched to the paint finish with hidden external vents, helping ventilation without spoiling the appearance.
Ironmongery included PVD brass hinges, brass handles and stays for the opening sashes. The doors also included multi point locks, 3 star euro cylinders with internal thumb-turns and thermal break thresholds. This allowed the new joinery to retain a traditional appearance while offering modern security and performance. Work like this often sits alongside our bespoke timber doors in Lincoln and wider joinery services in Lincoln.
