Timber Door Surround Repair in Lincoln

We repaired this timber door surround at a commercial property on Newland in Lincoln. The existing entrance had suffered from rot, especially around the lower section of the left-hand door surround.

The damage had gone beyond a simple surface repair. Therefore, we removed the failed timber and made new replacement sections to match the original detail.

External Timber Door Surround Repair

This project focused on the left-hand leg of the door surround. The lower mouldings and frame sections had broken down due to moisture.

Once we opened the area up, we could see the extent of the damage. We then cut away the rotten material and prepared the opening for new timber.

Bespoke Moulding Replication

The existing door surround had decorative moulding details that needed to be matched. So, we had bespoke cutters made to reproduce the central moulding profile.

This allowed the new section to sit correctly with the original joinery. It also helped keep the entrance looking consistent with the rest of the building.

Sapele Hardwood for External Joinery

We made the replacement parts from Sapele hardwood. Sapele is a durable timber that works well for external joinery when detailed and finished correctly.

We also sealed the end grain and applied a spray primer before installation. This helps protect the new timber and gives the decorator a sound base for the final finish.

Heritage Joinery Repair in Lincoln

Repair work like this is often better than replacing the full entrance. It keeps more of the original character while dealing with the failed sections properly.
