Overview

Bespoke Alcove Cupboard Doors in Lincoln – Listed Property Joinery

We carried out this bespoke alcove cupboard project at a listed property on Lindum Road in Lincoln. The aim was simple. The new cupboard doors needed to match existing joinery already installed in another room.

Because of this, accuracy was key. We carefully studied the original details, proportions and panel layout. As a result, the new doors blend in naturally with the rest of the property.

Matching Existing Joinery in a Listed Property

This type of work is common in older and listed buildings. However, it requires a different approach. Instead of creating something new, we replicate existing features so everything stays in keeping.

For this project, we made two bespoke alcove cupboard fronts with three fixed internal shelves. We built them to suit the space exactly, ensuring clean lines and a tight fit.

We used tulipwood, moisture resistant MDF and pine for stability and durability. In addition, we selected traditional brass butt hinges, pull knobs and magnetic catches to match the style of the property.

Spray Finished for a Clean, Consistent Look

Once manufactured, we spray applied a white primer finish. This gives a smooth and even base, ready for final decoration.

More importantly, spray finishing helps the new work sit alongside the existing joinery. As a result, the cupboards look like they have always been part of the room.

Bespoke Alcove Storage in Lincoln

Alcove cupboards like this make the most of unused space. At the same time, they improve storage without affecting the character of the room.

This project forms part of our fitted storage furniture in Lincoln and our wider bespoke joinery services in Lincoln.

If you need joinery that matches existing features in a period or listed property, we can help.
