Bespoke Sapele External Door with Glazed Top Light in Lincoln
Radial Joinery designed and manufactured this bespoke Sapele external door for a property in Lincoln. Built to a thickness of 54mm, the door provides excellent strength, durability and insulation compared with many standard external doors.

Handmade Sapele External Door Construction
This door was manufactured from Sapele hardwood, a durable timber commonly used for high quality exterior joinery. The timber offers excellent stability and a rich natural grain which finishes beautifully when oiled.
The door features traditional V-grooved boarding on both the internal and external faces. This design creates a timeless appearance while maintaining the strength expected from a handmade front door.
All joinery work was completed in our workshop before installation at the property in Lincoln.
Insulated Panels and Thermal Performance
Internally insulated panels were incorporated into the door construction to improve thermal performance. Good insulation helps reduce heat transfer through the entrance door and improves comfort within the home.

Glazed Top Light with High Performance Double Glazing

The unit also includes a warm edge spacer bar. Warm edge spacers reduce heat transfer around the perimeter of the glazing and help reduce condensation forming around the glass edges.
Traditional Brass Hardware and Security
The door was fitted with a 5 lever mortice lock and an additional Yale lock for extra security. Both locks were finished in polished brass which complements the warm colour of the Sapele timber.
High quality ironmongery ensures smooth operation while maintaining the security expected from a solid hardwood entrance door.
Osmo UV Protection Oil Finish
The door was finished using Osmo UV Protection Oil. This exterior oil protects the timber from weathering while allowing the natural grain of the wood to remain visible.
Oil finishes are commonly used on handmade front doors because they provide strong protection while remaining easy to maintain over time.
