Bespoke Timber Windows and Doors for Grade II Listed Property in Metheringham
We manufactured and installed a full set of bespoke timber windows and doors for this Grade II listed property in Metheringham near Lincoln. The customer needed to replace unsuitable uPVC units after retrospective Listed Building Consent was refused.
We produced every window and door in our workshop using Sapele hardwood. The completed project restored a more traditional appearance while improving the overall quality of the joinery throughout the property.
This project forms part of our timber windows in Lincoln and heritage and period joinery in Lincoln services.
Bespoke Timber Windows for a Listed Building
We manufactured several different window styles to suit the property. These included fixed pane windows, top opening casements and traditional flush casement windows.
We also incorporated traditional glazing layouts throughout the project to suit the age and character of the building. Several windows included Georgian glazing bars together with putty pointed single glazing.
Because listed buildings often contain uneven openings and older brickwork, careful measuring proved important throughout the manufacture and installation process.
We manufactured all windows from Sapele hardwood because it offers excellent durability and stability for external joinery. In addition, we spray finished the windows in white both internally and externally to create a clean traditional appearance.
Bespoke Hardwood French Doors and External Doors
Alongside the windows, we also manufactured and installed a bespoke pair of French doors together with a matching external door and frame.
The French doors included Georgian glazing bars, traditional proportions and multipoint locking systems. Meanwhile, the single external door incorporated a glazed upper section with solid lower panels to create a more traditional design.
We fitted brass and gold finish ironmongery throughout the project together with weather sealed thresholds and traditional putty pointed glazing.
The completed timber doors suit the listed property far better than the previous uPVC units. In addition, the slim timber sections help restore the original character of the building.
