Overview

Bespoke Stable Door in Tattershall Thorpe, Lincolnshire

We designed, made and installed this bespoke stable timber door at a Grade II listed property in Tattershall Thorpe, Lincolnshire. The original door had failed and needed replacing. Because the building is listed, the new door had to match the character of the property.

This type of work forms part of our bespoke doors in Lincoln service and our heritage and period joinery in Lincoln, where detail and correct materials matter.

Sapele Stable Door for a Listed Property

The client chose a traditional stable door design. The top and bottom sections open separately. This allows ventilation while keeping the property secure.

We made the door from Sapele hardwood. This is a strong and stable timber that suits external joinery. It also gives a traditional look, which works well on older properties.

We set out the door carefully to match the existing opening. The proportions and details follow the original style so the new door sits naturally within the building.

Glazed Upper Section with Traditional Detailing

The top section includes Pilkington K double glazing. We used clear toughened glass with argon gas and a warm edge spacer bar. This improves thermal performance while keeping a traditional appearance.

The lower section uses tongue and groove boarding. This gives the door a classic stable door look and adds strength.

Ironmongery and Practical Features

We fitted brass handles and hinges to suit the property. The door also includes a multi-point locking system with 5 star rated euro cylinders and a thumbturn for added security.

We formed part of the lower panel to allow for a cat flap. This keeps the design clean while making the door practical for daily use.

Spray Finished for Long Term Performance

We spray finished the door in our workshop. The inside is white and the outside is black. Spray finishing gives a more even coat and lasts longer than hand painting.

We made all parts in our workshop before installation. This ensures accuracy and a consistent finish.
