Hallway Wall Panelling & Under-Stairs Storage Review in Skellingthorpe

Bespoke timber panelling following the slope and proportions of the staircase.

Hallway Wall Panelling & Under-Stairs Storage Review in Skellingthorpe

This hallway joinery project in Skellingthorpe combined decorative wall panelling, new skirting and architraves, and bespoke under-stairs storage. After completion, our client Allison left Radial Joinery a five-star review praising the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

We planned the different elements together so the hallway would feel like one complete design. The two pull-out storage drawers sit beneath the staircase, while their fronts follow the same style as the surrounding wall panelling.

For the wall panelling project, we fitted softwood mouldings throughout the hall and staircase. We also installed new skirting boards and architraves downstairs. The panelling was left ready for decorating, while the skirting and architraves received a factory-applied primer.

The second part of the project made better use of the space beneath the stairs. We manufactured two large pull-out drawers using Hidrofugo moisture-resistant MDF. Soft-close runners provide smooth operation, while the drawer fronts match the surrounding panelling when closed.

We supplied the frontals primed so they could be painted with the rest of the hallway. We also finished the oak components with hardwax oil.

This project shows how bespoke wall panelling and fitted storage furniture can work together to improve both the appearance and everyday use of a hallway.

Designed and Manufactured by Radial Joinery

Radial Joinery designs and manufactures bespoke joinery in our Lincoln workshop for homes across Lincoln and Lincolnshire. Projects range from fitted storage and wardrobes to timber windows, doors, heritage work and architectural joinery.

For this Skellingthorpe project, the key benefit came from designing the storage and wall panelling together. That allowed the pull-out drawers to become part of the wider hallway design rather than looking like separate furniture added later.

The storage unit uses Hidrofugo moisture-resistant MDF, a specialist panel product manufactured by Finsa. The material provides a strong and stable base for high-quality painted fitted furniture.
