Bespoke Media Wall & Alcove Storage Review in Ruskington

This bespoke media wall in Ruskington was designed, manufactured and installed by Radial Joinery for a client who wanted a new focal point for the lounge.

The finished project combined a false chimney breast, recessed television, electric fire, solid oak mantel and bespoke alcove cabinetry. We also created a compact study area within the right-hand alcove.

By designing the complete feature as one project, we could balance the television, fire, storage, shelving and desk area around the proportions of the room.

Bespoke Media Wall in Ruskington

The central false chimney breast created the main feature of the room. We designed it to house a woodburner-style electric fire with a recessed television above.

A solid American White Oak mantel added natural warmth and contrast. To each side, we installed bespoke base cabinets with floating-style shelves above.

The right-hand alcove also included an integrated desk surface. This created a practical workspace without making the room feel crowded or adding separate furniture.

The cabinetry frontals received a spray-applied paint finish. We applied hardwax oil to the oak parts to protect the timber and highlight its natural grain.

Soft-close hinges and simple pull knobs completed the cabinetry with a clean and understated finish.

Designed Around the Room and the Client

The main advantage of bespoke joinery is that every part of the design can respond to the actual room. Standard units would not have created the same balance around the chimney breast or allowed the study area to fit naturally into the alcove.

For this project, we combined concealed storage, open shelving, a television recess, an electric fire and a workspace within one coordinated design.

The result gave the room a strong central feature while also adding useful storage and a dedicated desk area.
