Framed Ledged and Braced Sapele Door in Hackthorn Cliff, Lincolnshire
We manufactured and installed this bespoke framed ledged and braced door for a therapy room in Hackthorn Cliff, Lincolnshire.
The customer wanted a traditional external timber door that would suit the rural setting while still providing modern security and insulation.
This project forms part of our bespoke timber doors in Lincoln service as well as our wider bespoke joinery services in Lincoln.
Bespoke Sapele Framed Ledged and Braced Door
We manufactured the door from Sapele hardwood using a traditional framed ledged and braced construction.
The outer face included tongue and groove boarding together with a glazed vision panel to allow additional natural light into the therapy room.
The vision panel was fitted with 20mm double glazed glass to improve insulation while still maintaining the traditional appearance of the door.
Traditional Style with Modern Security
Although the door followed a traditional cottage style design, we also incorporated modern locking and weather protection features.
The door was fitted with a 5 lever mortice lock together with brass hinges and matching brass handles.
This combination helped retain the traditional appearance while still giving the customer a secure and practical external door.
Natural Osmo Oil Finish
Rather than using a painted finish, the customer chose Osmo UV Protection Oil to protect the timber. Allowing the natural grain and colour of the Sapele to remain visible.
The oil finish works particularly well on hardwood doors because it enhances the timber tones while helping provide long term protection against weathering and UV exposure.
All joinery was purpose made specifically for the opening to achieve a clean fitted finish.
We regularly manufacture bespoke external doors, cottage doors and traditional hardwood joinery throughout Lincolnshire.
