Heritage Timber Sash Window Replacement in Carlton-Le-Moorland, Lincoln
We replaced original timber sash windows at this Grade II listed property in Carlton-Le-Moorland, Lincoln. This project formed part of a wider programme of work where the old windows were carefully renewed to match the character of the building.
The existing windows had suffered from years of limited maintenance. Over time, many layers of paint had built up and trapped moisture in the timber. As a result, the frames and sashes had started to rot and needed full replacement.
Heritage Timber Windows for a Listed Property
Because this was a listed property, the new windows had to match the originals closely. We copied the glazing bar layout, mouldings, frame proportions and overall appearance so the finished work remained in keeping with the property.
This window was one of five on the front elevation that had to remain single glazed. Some other windows on the property could be upgraded, but these front windows needed to follow the heritage requirements.
Matching the Original Sash Window Details
We made the new timber sash window in our workshop and fitted it into the existing opening. Careful setting out helped protect the surrounding structure and keep the appearance correct from both inside and outside.
The aim was to restore the look and function of the original joinery while giving the property a stronger, cleaner and longer-lasting result.
