Overview

Replacement Timber Sash Windows in Market Rasen

We manufactured and installed five pairs of replacement timber sash windows at this period property in Hatton near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.

The original sash windows had started to fail in several areas with timber decay and damaged lower sections. The customer wanted to improve the condition and performance of the windows while keeping the traditional appearance of the property.

This project forms part of our timber windows in Lincoln service as well as our wider heritage and period joinery in Lincoln work.

Replacement Hardwood Sash Windows

Rather than replacing the complete frames, we manufactured five new pairs of vertical sliding sash windows to fit within the existing openings.

The new sash windows were manufactured in Sapele hardwood. Built to match the original proportions and detailing of the property.

We fitted Pilkington K clear toughened double glazing, warm edge spacer bars to improve thermal performance while maintaining a traditional appearance.

The project also included fitting new parting beads and staff beads where required along with traditional brass Fitch fasteners.

Traditional Joinery for a Period Property

The new sash windows kept the character of the property while improving operation, insulation and overall condition.

Sapele was chosen for its durability, stability and suitability for external timber joinery. The windows were supplied with primer and undercoat ready for final decoration.
